Legia Akademicka is a program aimed at students, both women and men, who would like to undergo military training, obtain a military degree, or think about joining the army and on active service. It is an adventure, the realization of one's passions, a chance to gain additional qualifications, it is prestige.
In 2017, the Ministry of National Defense, in agreement with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, launched a pilot program of voluntary military training for students called "Legia Akademicka". The program is implemented in the 2018/2019 academic year. The organizer of the theoretical part of the training, including subjects in the field of defense and military knowledge are the Rector of the university that joined the Academic Legion program. The practical part of military training in the form of field exercises is organized by the Ministry of National Defense.
The program of voluntary student training under the Academic Legion consists of parts theoretical and practical.
The theoretical part covers approx. 30 teaching hours. Classes are held in the form of lectures.
After completing the theoretical part, a volunteer student submits an application to military authorities for a vocation card for military exercises. The practical part of the program (21 days in the case of reserve private training and 42 days in the case of reserve NCO training) is carried out during the summer holidays in military units and selected training centers.
- training module primary lasts 21 days, ends with an examination and taking an oath;
- training module NCO lasts 21 days, culminating in an examination and appointment to the rank of reserve corporal.
