Pedagogical practice requires from a modern teacher still new skills, not only educational, but also educational, communication and therapeutic.
The teacher should individualize work during the lesson and provide therapeutic support for students with disturbed or dissonant development.
Postgraduate studies in the field of corrective pedagogy (pedagogical therapy) broaden the knowledge and competences of students with methods of therapy of child developmental disorders. Thus, they increase the effectiveness of pedagogical work of every teacher, in every subject, and prepare them for corrective and compensatory classes.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
The studies are aimed at people who:
- are qualified to teach a subject or conduct classes, and have no preparation in the field of special education (in the case of these people, the study program will be extended to the following classes: special didactics (30h); diagnostics in special education (30); apprenticeships (60h)
- have special education qualifications and wish to obtain additional special needs education
- Teachers of kindergartens and schools of all types (special, integration, mainstream);
- Educators, guardians;
- Employees of psychological and pedagogical counseling centers;
- School educators;
- Psychologists.
AIM OF STUDIES:
The aim of the studies is to equip students with practical skills, knowledge and tools in the field of diagnosis and pedagogical therapy necessary for:
- self-diagnosis and therapy of children and adolescents with specific learning difficulties and / or impaired motor, emotional and social development,
- organizing various forms of psychological and pedagogical help, supporting parents and teachers in solving educational problems.
During their studies and teaching practice, students will acquire knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- recognizing and meeting the special educational needs of children and adolescents with specific developmental and learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthography, dyscalculia) and non-specific (disabilities, risk of social maladjustment and social maladjustment, neurodevelopmental disorders) difficulties in development and learning;
- constructing a developmental and functional diagnosis of children and adolescents with specific and non-specific difficulties in development and learning;
- principles and methods of constructing individual education programs, correction and compensation;
- selection of corrective and compensatory work methods appropriate to the child's disorder
- conducting specialist, corrective-compensatory and other therapeutic activities for children and adolescents with specific and non-specific difficulties in development and learning;
- proper interpretation of opinions and judgments issued by psychological and pedagogical counseling centers;
- cooperation with the family of a student with learning difficulties;
- the ability to apply the provisions of the educational law concerning the organization of education, help, support and care for these children and students in kindergartens, schools and institutions, and to keep records.
PROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVES
After graduation, the graduate is qualified to conduct in kindergartens, schools, educational and care and upbringing institutions dealing with pedagogical therapy for children and adolescents:
- individual and group corrective and compensatory classes for students with developmental disorders and deviations or with specific learning difficulties;
- activities supporting the educational function of the family, preventing dysfunctional behavior of students and supporting their development;
- workshop classes and consultations for parents and teachers in the field of corrective pedagogy;
- early development support classes;
- research and diagnostic activities concerning individual students, including the diagnosis of individual development and educational needs as well as psychophysical abilities;
- minimizing the effects of developmental disorders, preventing behavioral disorders;
- individual and group pedagogical therapy;
- activities supporting the development of the student and his strengths and counseling for students.

NUMBER OF HOURS: 570 (including 180 hours of internship)

CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION:
Persons who have completed higher or lower degree studies may apply for admission to Postgraduate Studies. Recruitment takes place without entrance exams. Due to the limited number of places, the order of applications decides about admission. The condition of admission to postgraduate studies is submission of a set of documents.
