For graduates

Examination of the graduate's fate

LEGAL BASIS

The Act of 18 March 2011 amending the Act - Law on Higher Education in Art. 13a. obliges universities to monitor their graduates' professional careers in order to adapt their study programs and educational programs to the needs of the labor market. The University of Commerce and Services has been monitoring the fate of graduates since 2010.

PURPOSE OF RESEARCH

WSHiU has introduced a system for monitoring the professional careers of its graduates in order to adapt the study programs and education programs to the needs of the labor market.

Research is a valuable source of knowledge for us, helpful, among others, in making decisions about changes in the education offer, introducing new specialties in the current fields of study, extending the offer with master's and postgraduate studies. They are also used for national rankings. The results also help future applicants to study whether, after graduating from our university, they will have the knowledge and skills that the labor market expects from them.

RESEARCH POPULATION

The study covers graduates of the Faculty of Social and Economics and is carried out on the day of graduation (diploma examination) or shortly after graduation, as well as three and five years from the moment of graduation.

TEST METHODOLOGY

Research monitoring the professional careers of graduates immediately after completing the education process at the University of Commerce and Services is carried out using the indirect survey method using the direct questionnaire technique. A standardized questionnaire developed for the purposes of research at WSHiU in Poznań is used as a measurement tool.

In the first stage of the study, a paper questionnaire is used, which is filled in by the graduate when filling in the so-called a circulation card at the Career Office.

The questionnaire used in the research, intended for the study of graduates immediately after the completion of the learning process, contains a total of 18 questions, 12 of which are substantive, and the remaining 6 concern the characteristics of the studied unit. The questions included in the questionnaire are grouped into four thematic blocks with the following titles:

I. Assessment of didactic classes
II. Assessment of the usefulness of study program content
III. Plans for the future
IV. And now a few words about myself

Graduates of full-time and part-time studies participate in the research.

The second stage of the study uses a questionnaire addressed to graduates who left the University walls three and five years ago. Contains questions related to work and professional development. It is sent by electronic mail and traditional mail to WSHiU graduates.
